Notice the new banner? It shows off the new logo and slogan for the Center. Jan will be at the library park in Fort Morgan for Festival in the Park July 20-22. Stop by and say hi!

News from the Center

Training for four advocates in Phillips County is nearly complete, according to Executive Director Jan Loesch, following several weeks of weekly training and Bible study. The advocates will be able to counsel clients and hopefully extend the Center's ministry in the Holyoke-Haxtun area.

That was among announcements made at the monthly Board meeting of the Center. Because several board members were unable to attend, no decisions were made at the meeting.

Other news:
Jan will host a booth at a number of festivals and fairs in northeast Colorado in the next two months.
Jan is considering serving on the steering committee for Philanthropy Days to be held in Burlington in the summer of 2008, hoping to explore fundraising opportunities for the Center.
The Center will have new hours: 9-4, M-Th, 9-noon on Fridays.
Jan will speak at Grace Bible Church in Fort Morgan on July 20th.
The Center has a new banner with the logo and slogan: "We bring HOPE to you."

Summer projects

Summer is the time for placing the Center in front of the community at different festivals and fairs throughout northeast Colorado. Jan Loesch, executive director, generally sets up the booth and meets the public with educational games, brochures, and conversation. Jan hopes to raise awareness both of the Center's ministries to the public but also to the W.A.I.T. training, which is abstinence training offered to junior and senior high schools.

Another summer project is to locate prayer warriors, people who would be willing to pray for the Center and its clients. The Center would especially like to locate people who would come to the Center for group prayer once a week, but also those who would like prayer requests to privately. Contact Jan at the center of you're interesting in either of those ministries.

Some of the upcoming outreach events include:
  • Fort Morgan Festival in the park, July 21-23
  • Phillips Co. Fair in Holyoke, July 27-28
  • Washington Co Fair in Akron, August 1-4
  • Oktoberfest in Brush, Sept. 22
Come on out and say "hi!" to Jan at one of these events!

Board meeting - July 2007

Please be in prayer for our board as they meet again in July. The board members devote the early portion of the meeting to prayer for the Center, the clients, and the community. Please join the board in praying for those needs as well.

Our board members are Ellie Beal, Nelson Brent, Matt Brasby, Kathy Brasby, Kerry Pope and Anita Scarbrough. Jan Loesch is the Executive Director of the Center.

Volunteers honored

The Center hosted a thank-you luncheon for a group of ladies from Holyoke who have been "helping hands" from God for several year. In back row, from left, are Center executive director Jan Loesch, Arlene Foley, Jeane Dunne and Marjorie Roberts. In front from left are Ruby Roll, Evelyn Lock, Marie Blakesley.

Check out our website for other photos from the luncheon.

Thank you to our volunteers. You bless the mothers, their babies, and the Center!

A summer of interviews

A local video team is working with the Center this summer to produce a promotional video about the Center's ministries. This is all being donated to the center. Volunteers and board members will be interviewed as part of the project. If you know someone who would like to add their story to the interviews, please contact the Center.

The video team hopes to have the promotional video plus possibly a music video or story ready for the fundraising banquets in February.

Board meeting - June 2007

All board meetings start with a time of prayer for the Center and this one was no different. We prayed for God's protection over the Center and over Jan as director.

Some of the discussion points:
  • The Center tithes each year from the proceeds from the fundraising banquets. Discussion continues to where to send that tithe this year.
  • With counselors currently being trained in the Haxtun area, the board continues to plan toward a possible satellite site in Holyoke or Haxtun. Ideas include opening an office or renting a house to hold a women's center. Prayer and discussion continue on that idea.
  • The board hopes to hold a retreat in the fall for more intense prayer time and vision making.
  • Jan Loesch will be attending several festivals and fairs where she'll have informational booths set up. She had a booth at the Akron festival in June, with very good contacts made. Other upcoming festivals include Fort Morgan's Festival in teh Park on July 21-23, the Phillips County Fair on July 27-28, Oktoberfest in Brush on Sept. 22, and Akron Days August 1-4 (Akron's dates may not be correct)
  • The Baby Bottle campaign is now complete and proceeds from that should be coming in soon. That is the final formal fundraising event for the year.
  • Jan is pursuing some grant opportunities, especially to possibly purchase media equipment for future presentations. The Center plans to do a media presentation at next year's fundraising banquets and is currently involved with a filming team to produce a promotional DVD for the center.
  • The Center would like to identify prayer warriors, people who would be willing to gather at the Center office in Brush one day a week to pray for the Center and its ministries.
  • The next board meeting is July 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sterling.
