Board meeting - June 2007

All board meetings start with a time of prayer for the Center and this one was no different. We prayed for God's protection over the Center and over Jan as director.

Some of the discussion points:
  • The Center tithes each year from the proceeds from the fundraising banquets. Discussion continues to where to send that tithe this year.
  • With counselors currently being trained in the Haxtun area, the board continues to plan toward a possible satellite site in Holyoke or Haxtun. Ideas include opening an office or renting a house to hold a women's center. Prayer and discussion continue on that idea.
  • The board hopes to hold a retreat in the fall for more intense prayer time and vision making.
  • Jan Loesch will be attending several festivals and fairs where she'll have informational booths set up. She had a booth at the Akron festival in June, with very good contacts made. Other upcoming festivals include Fort Morgan's Festival in teh Park on July 21-23, the Phillips County Fair on July 27-28, Oktoberfest in Brush on Sept. 22, and Akron Days August 1-4 (Akron's dates may not be correct)
  • The Baby Bottle campaign is now complete and proceeds from that should be coming in soon. That is the final formal fundraising event for the year.
  • Jan is pursuing some grant opportunities, especially to possibly purchase media equipment for future presentations. The Center plans to do a media presentation at next year's fundraising banquets and is currently involved with a filming team to produce a promotional DVD for the center.
  • The Center would like to identify prayer warriors, people who would be willing to gather at the Center office in Brush one day a week to pray for the Center and its ministries.
  • The next board meeting is July 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sterling.
